The wife of one of my clients told me he had passed away.
He was in his mid-twenties and had ambulatory surgery to remove a little mass from his body. The surgery was a success, and his wife was told to wait for him to be discharged.
“During the recovery time, he had a pulmonary embolism and, passed away. There where so many thing left unspoken and so many plans that we wont be able to achieve. We need to live everyday as is it was the last and always let the people you love know how much you love them” — she told me.
Her words gave me a lot to think about that day and helped me realize how lucky I am to be able to see my family every day. I do my best to tell them how much I love them daily and remind myself to be grateful for it.
Too often, I take for granted the small things in life, those small things that make life big and are an area of opportunity I'm working with.
All those messages I write and end up deleting, all those words that stop right before I say them are the things I might regret in the future, so from now on, I will do my best to let them out.
